In Jambiani, a fishermen village on the East coast of Zanzibar, we offer a cultural village tour to visit villagers working in different professions.Our guide tells about the history of the village, this cultural trip will take you to:-
A traditional herbalist, who will show you the local medicines, herbs and their uses,
A visit to a local organically plantation on coral stone, where farmers cultivate under difficult circumstances.
Seaweed farms run by woman.
Women groups who makes ropes from coconut husks and hand crafts.
A good chance to learn about the unique culture and the diverse environment of Zanzibar's villages and to meet the friendly Swahili people. We will show you real life, not images designed for tourists.
This is where you will have an opportunity to visit some of our community projects, talk with local people and participate in their daily life activities; you will have lunch of typical Zanzibar cuisine.
 NUNGWI VILLAGE TOUR.
Nungwi is a village to the north coast of Zanzibar is a home of famous dhow building in Zanzibar. The dhow is the cultural attraction of Zanzibar, since centuries the Wasawahili are building these woods curved boats with simply local tools, further more you will visit the local fishermen and fish market.
At Nungwi you will also visit the Sea turtle Project initiated by Eco & Culture as one of our ecological project. Sea turtles are endangered species world-wide, especial in Zanzibar sea turtles are widely extinct; this protection project raises sea turtles in a natural lagoon, in this aquarium sea turtles are bred.
After tour you will have some time to relax at the beach. This day trip price includes a guide, transport from your hotel and entrance fees, there are many restaurants around there where you can choose for lunch (not included in the trip price)
KIDICHI VILLAGE TOUR .
Kidichi is located at the highest altitude in Zanzibar (110m) above sea level. This is the village which is very close to most Spice farms in Zanzibar, it is located in the most fertile land and that is the reason why most of the Sultans plantations were around this place.
This cultural visit will take you through the Persian bath, which was built by the first Sultan of Zanzibar for his Persian wife, at the village you learn how local people prepare their daily meal for their daily use, you will visit local families to see the preparation of coconut oil in a locally ways, this is where you will also do local henna paintings, this trip can be extended to the Spice farms to see harvesting of spices that are in season, the trip will be spiced up with an opulent lunch of typical Zanzibar cuisine served in a local house.
 ZANZIBAR CULTURAL TOWN TOUR.
This is a cultural visit to the whole town of Zanzibar, (not only Stone town), including the new town, where you will have a opportunity to see local people in their daily activities, starting with Stone town we will visit, fish market, former slave market the House of Wonders and some narrow streets. Then we will cross the creek road and head to the new town on the way we will pass through, Michenzani flats, and a used clothes market.
Then we will drive to Mwanakwerekwe markets, this is where you get a good experience of the daily activities, farmers from every corner of the Island bring their products for sell hear, different kinds of Zanzibar fruits can be seen.
This tour ends by lunch at a very famous local restaurant, the Passing Show where you be mixed up with locals in testing the delicious spiced food. |
